Robinia |
The robinia is a decidous tree with a divided roundish crown. You can find the robinia frequently at edges of the road. The tree came from North America to Europe ca. 300 years ago. The first german robinia was located in Potsdam. It is also called false acacia. You can not find genuine acacias in the temperate climate zone. They are growing only in the tropics and subtropics. The wood is greenish in the broad core, and brown to green in the narrow sapwood. The design is very alive. The wood is hard and well to be worked on. |
