Tagua nuts |
The tagua nut is the seed of the ivory
palm. This kind of palm is know from Panama to Peru, but above all in
Ecuador. Fresh harvested the nut is soft. By the time of three years,
the nut is hardening. It becomes really as hard as a stone. That´s why
the nut is also known as "stone nut". During the hardening process some
little fissures arise. Another second substantial characteristic of the
tagua nut is the astonishing similarity to ivory. |
